What is an NEI Tier 4 Teacher?

An NEI Tier 4 Teacher (T4) exemplifies the NEI method by

  • Engaging 1:1s maximizing student talk time through appropriate follow-up questions that individualize every lesson

  • Delivering high-quality corrections and accessible feedback of learners’ grammar, pronunciation, vocabulary, and skills related to speaking fluency (Frequent and supportive corrections that enhance 1:1s)

  • Appropriate adaptation of teaching delivery based on the student’s language level

  • Having committed availability during NEI prime-time hours, teaching at least 10 lesson units on average (See below for prime-time hours)

  • Strict adherence to 1:1 Notes and Lesson Plan Notes guidelines

  • Impeccable reliability of teaching schedule (i.e. no missed 1:1s)

  • Timely communication of requests, emergencies, and questions

T4 requirements include all other expectations detailed in the NEI Teacher Guide. T4 Evaluations are rigorous and inflexible concerning sub-standard performance in any area. Before requesting a T4 evaluation, be confident that you’re meeting or exceeding expectations of

  • Teacher talk time

  • Working with low-level learners
